Put yourself inany Instagram Reel

That Reel from your Explore page could star you. Share it to oVideo by link, add a single photo, and the person in it becomes you, down to your hair and what you wear, while the choreography, the transitions and the trending audio stay exactly as they were. No screen recording and no saving the Reel first.

Getting the link of an Instagram Reel

In the Instagram app

Open the Reel, tap the paper plane under it, then Copy link. The link starts with instagram.com/reel/.

From a video post

On a feed post with a video, tap the three dots or the paper plane and copy the link. It starts with instagram.com/p/.

In a browser

Open the Reel on instagram.com and copy the address bar. Links with the account name in them work too.

Which posts work

What comes in and what does not

Instagram keeps a lot behind accounts and disappearing formats. What oVideo can open is a public Reel or a public feed post with a video; it takes up to the opening minute, and your swap is any 3 to 15 seconds of that. For anything else, download the clip to your phone and upload it as a file.

Want to be the artist in a song's video? Paste the Reel of it: put yourself in a music video.

  • Public Reels: yes, from the app or the browser.
  • Feed posts with a video: yes.
  • Reels longer than a minute: the first 60 seconds come in.
  • Private accounts: no, nobody outside can open them.
  • Stories, highlights, photo posts and profiles: no.

How it works

From Reel to your version in four steps

  1. 01

    Copy the Reel link

Paper plane, then Copy link, in the app, or the address bar on instagram.com.

  2. 02

Drop it into the upload box

oVideo fetches the Reel from Instagram for you; it appears in the trimmer within seconds.

  3. 03

    Choose your moment

Slide to the transition, the outfit change or the beat drop, anything from 3 to 15 seconds.

  4. 04

Upload a selfie or a full look

A front facing photo swaps your face and hair; a mirror or full body shot brings your outfit too. Your Reel lands in the gallery with its audio.

Answers

Frequently asked questions

How do I put myself in an Instagram Reel?
In Instagram, tap the paper plane (Share) under the Reel and then Copy link. Open Put Yourself In on oVideo, paste the link, pick the 3 to 15 seconds you want, add one clear photo of yourself and create. You replace the person in the Reel while the moves, the camera and the audio stay.
Which Instagram links work?
Links to a Reel (instagram.com/reel/…) and to a post with a video (instagram.com/p/…), copied from the app or the browser. Stories, highlights, profiles and audio pages cannot be used.
Can I use a Reel from a private account?
No. oVideo can only bring in Reels everyone can see. If it is your own private Reel, save it to your phone and upload the file instead.
Does it work with Instagram Stories?
No. Stories disappear and are not public links. Save the Story video to your phone and upload it as a file.
What about a photo post or a carousel?
A post with only photos has no video to follow, so there are no moves to swap you into. Use a Reel or a video post.
What if the Reel is longer than a minute?
The first 60 seconds come in. You then pick the 3 to 15 seconds to swap, for example the hook or the dance.
Does the Reel audio stay?
Yes. Whatever plays in those seconds, the trending song, a voiceover or a sound effect, is laid back under your version in sync.
How much does it cost?
Bringing the Reel in from its link is free. The swap costs 19 credits per second at 720p and 26 at 1080p, shown before you create; a 15 second swap at 720p is 285 credits, about $3.66 to $7.13 depending on the plan and billing.
Can I post the result back on Instagram?
Use Reels you made or have the right to use, credit or tag the original creator, and add the AI label Instagram offers when you post realistic AI video.
