Comparison

The best AI voiceover tools for video in 2026Pick by the job: a free voice while you edit, your own cloned voice, editing by transcript, or a voice on a finished clip without a timeline.

All six tools put an AI voice on a video you already have, but they work differently: most are video editors where the voice lands on a timeline and you line it up yourself, one is a voice lab with its own video projects, and one adds the voice in a single step. They also differ in voices, cloning, free minutes and price. oVideo is our product. Each tool was checked on its own site on November 4, 2026, and where a tool is silent we say so.

Editor or one step tool

CapCut, VEED, Kapwing and ElevenLabs Studio put the voice on a timeline as its own clip, so you line it up with the video yourself, and Descript lets you edit the video by editing its transcript. oVideo takes the video and the script and gives back one MP4, with the voice starting at the second you choose.

Voices, languages and cloning

CapCut lists 200+ voices, Kapwing 180 voices in 40+ languages and ElevenLabs 74 languages. CapCut, ElevenLabs, Descript, VEED and Kapwing can clone your own voice. oVideo has 96 ElevenLabs voices in 7 languages and no cloning.

Free minutes and watermarks

ElevenLabs gives about 10 minutes of voice a month on Free, without a commercial license. VEED, Kapwing and Descript free exports are 720p with a watermark. oVideo has no free voiceovers; it costs 30 or 50 credits per minute of voice, from 15 credits.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI voiceover for video?
It depends on the job. For a free voiceover while you edit, CapCut. For the voice lab itself with cloning in 74 languages, ElevenLabs. For an ElevenLabs voice on a finished clip without a timeline, oVideo. For editing a recording by editing its transcript, Descript. For many hours of AI voice in a browser editor, VEED. For team editing with 180 voices, Kapwing.
How do I add an AI voice to a video I already have?
In an editor such as CapCut, VEED or Kapwing you upload the video, open text to speech, type the script, pick a voice and line up the voice clip on the timeline before you export. In oVideo's Add AI Voice you upload the video, type the script, pick one of 96 ElevenLabs voices and choose where the voice starts; the original sound is lowered or muted and you get an MP4 up to 1080p.
Is there a free AI voiceover for video?
CapCut describes its text to speech as free. ElevenLabs Free gives about 10 minutes of voice a month without a commercial license, VEED Free up to 10 minutes of text to speech a month and Kapwing Free up to 1 minute, both with 720p watermarked exports (checked November 4, 2026). oVideo has no free voiceovers; Add AI Voice needs a paid plan from $10 a month.
Can I use my own cloned voice?
Yes with CapCut, ElevenLabs from Starter, Descript from Hobbyist, VEED on paid plans and Kapwing on Business (checked November 4, 2026). oVideo does not clone voices or take an audio upload; you pick one of its 96 ElevenLabs voices.
Can I use ElevenLabs voices without learning ElevenLabs?
Yes. oVideo's Add AI Voice uses 96 ElevenLabs voices on a Standard (ElevenLabs v4 Turbo) or Premium (ElevenLabs v4) model, so you upload your video, type the script and get the finished MP4 without a separate ElevenLabs account. To clone your voice or pick from the full ElevenLabs library, use ElevenLabs Studio.
What happens to the original sound of my video?
In the editors the voice is its own clip on the timeline, so you set the levels yourself. oVideo lowers the original sound to 15% under the voice or mutes it, and if the voice runs past the end of the video it holds the last frame so no word is cut.
How much does an AI voiceover for a video cost?
ElevenLabs Starter is $6 a month for about 30 minutes of voice. VEED starts at $12.25 and Descript and Kapwing at $16 a month billed yearly (checked November 4, 2026). oVideo charges 30 credits per minute of voice on Standard and 50 on Premium, billed per started 30 seconds and from 15 credits; Starter is $10 a month for 400 credits.
Can I add captions to the AI voiceover?
ElevenLabs Studio can make captions from the voiceover track, and VEED and Kapwing have auto subtitles. In oVideo you can add captions timed to the voice for the subtitle price.
